Who we are

Regina Connell edits this blog, with the help of Emily Eisenhart, Anne Stericker and Christina Chacon.

Regina is a reforming strategy, marketing, and communications consultant with a deep love of design, whether it’s interiors, architecture, industrial design, graphics, or fashion. Looking back, she realizes that design and creativity was in her blood (family of designers, architects, artists, potters, film producers and writers) but it took her an awfully long time to figure it out. In the interim she went to law school, graduated, went into corporate, then management consulting, then brand consulting (finally, some design!), did the internet consulting thing (more design!), produced a movie, wrote scripts, started her own branding/communications firm and dabbled in social enterprise on the side. Along the line, she kept the design magazine industry in business, shopped a lot, and wore a lot of black. She also met Emily, a kindred spirit. And now they’re doing this blog…Stay tooned. See what happens next. Want to see what Ten Things define Regina? Check this out.

Emily is a graphic designer and brand strategist with a deep appreciation for global cultures and aesthetics, currently working at IDEO. At heart, she is an artist, an anthropologist and an explorer. Her travels around the world, as well as her academic background in cultural anthropology, have left her forever fascinated by the people, environments, and objects around her. As a design thinker, she resonates strongly with the idea that design is more than what is on the surface; it’s about the relationship between the product, the person, and the ecosystem in which it operates, and about the value – and values – that are created in the process. She is an aspiring design anthropologist, and thinks she’ll pursue higher education if and when the time is right. But she’s open to alternatives and enjoys adapting to changes of plan. Luckily, in meeting friends and mentors like Regina, Emily has been able to turn her design inkling into a reality and has been given the chance to dive head first into the design world. Anne Stericker is our secret weapon in LA. When she’s not tracking down new sources for us, interviewing DesignCrafters and taking delicious photos, she runs a travel planning and personal concierge service called Live.Travel.Well. which  helps busy people create more time to do the things they really love.

Anne grew up in the Midwest before moving to Colorado to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder.  After graduating with a B.S. in Journalism, Anne moved to Los Angeles where she worked in PR. Several years later, Anne decided to move to the East Coast and chose Boston, a city known for its historic charm.  In Boston, Anne held management positions at Putnam Investments and Thomson Financial before opening up her travel planning and personal concierge business. She’s now back in LA, running Live. Travel. Well. and bringing her charm, intuition, smarts, creative problem-solving, and investigative skills to clients there (lucky them.) Anne’s interests and hobbies include cooking and baking, trying new restaurants, travel, health, fitness, nutrition, fashion, home decor, movies, art and taking self-guided food safaris to explore a city’s culinary delights.

Christina Chacon is our incredible intern, currently studying for a Masters in Interior Architecture and Design  at Art of Academy in San Francisco. Christina always considered herself an artist and someone with a creative mind. In her younger years, she had thought of her artistic creativity a hobby rather than a practical career path and it wasn’t until college that she quickly discovered she wanted to pursue a career in a creative field. It was then that she fell in love with interior architecture: designing spaces for people to live in, to work in, to play in, and all the creative elements that go into that process, forever captured her attention. She loves the puzzle solving that comes with putting successful design together: whether it’s a space or an object, it’s about creating something that people are drawn to and want to experience. This love affair only increased with time, and travel abroad brought her more appreciation and inspiration from the world’s eclectic designs (in buildings, rooms, windows, textiles, furniture, tiles: everything!). After college and spending some time back home in Los Angeles, Christina decided to move to the Bay Area to pursue her Masters in Interior Architecture and Design and is currently working on her Thesis (one more year to go!).
